The A Team

Ed Sheeran

This is an arrangement for beginners.  It leaves out some quick transition chords (D/F#-->Em and C-->G).  If you're deft enough to make those changes, you can probably figure out where they go on your own.  Also, the original acoustic guitar part involves some advanced strumming technique (percussive damping of the strings on the 2 and 4), so this strumming pattern is easier.

            / Em - - - / - - - - / G - - - / - - - - /

G (4)

White lips, pale face, breathing in snowflakes,

Em  (2)                             G  (2)

     Burnt lungs, sour taste.

G (4)

Light's gone, day's end, Struggling to pay rent,

    Long nights, strange men.

And they say she's in the Class A Team,

                G (2)                                                     D (2)

Stuck in her daydream, been this way since eighteen, but lately

       Am7 (2)                              C (2)

her face seems, slowly sinking, wasting, crumbling like

 G (2)                                         D/F# (2)

pastries, and they scream, The worst things in life come free to us,

                     Em               C                G (2)

'Cause we're just under the upper hand,  and go mad for a couple of grams,

Em                                 C          G (2)

And she don't want to go outside tonight,

               Em                        C              G (2)

And in a pipe she flies to the Motherland,     or sells love to another man,

Em            C         G         D/F#

It's too cold outside, for angels to

Em   C     G (2)

fly,                   Angels to

Em   C     G (2)

fly

G (4)

Ripped gloves, raincoat, tried to swim and stay afloat,

Em  (2)                             G  (2)

    Dry house, wet clothes.

G (4)

Loose change, bank notes, weary-eyed, dry throat,

Em (2)                      G  (2)

      Call girl, no phone.

Chorus

Am7 (2)                    C (2)

fly,  an angel will die, covered in

Em (2)                          G (2)

white, closed eye, and hoping for a better life,

Am7 (2)                           C (2)

This time, we'll fade out tonight, straight down the line.

/ Em - - - / C - - - / G - - - / - - - - / x2

Final Chorus:

          Am7 (2)                              C (2)

Stuck in her daydream, been this way since eighteen, but lately

       Am7 (2)                              C (2)

her face seems, slowly sinking, wasting, crumbling like

pastries, and they scream, The worst things in life come free to us,

(one strum per chord);

                Em               C                G (2)

And we're all under the upper hand,  and go mad for a couple of grams,

Em                                 C          G (2)

And she don't want to go outside tonight,

               Em                        C              G (2)

And in a pipe she flies to the Motherland,     or sells love to another man,
