God, I love this song. The rhythm guitars are playing a groove I call the Neil Young Bounce Mute — it probably has other names, but that's mine. It involves hitting a couple of bass notes while palm muting, then strumming the treble strings without the mute, so you end up bouncing your palm on and off the strings throughout the pattern. Neil Young uses this groove constantly — almost every song on Harvest.
